Architectural Shingles Provide a Textured Look for Your Edmonton Home
Architectural shingles are one of the best quality roofing products available today. This type of shingle is usually made up of a heavy mat base and ceramic-coated mineral granules that are tightly bound in water-resistant asphalt. Architectural shingles are thicker and have a more distinct, textured and layered appearance than the 3-tab shingles that run in flat, even rows. Often times, architectural shingles have a longer lifespan than the average 3-tab shingle and can last anywhere from 24 to 40 years depending on the grade of the product. If you are looking to install architectural shingles in Edmonton, be sure to contact Marshall Roofing Ltd.
Flat Roofing for Your Edmonton Business or Home
Marshall Roofing is qualified to install two different systems of flat roofing in Edmonton, both Torch-On and Built-Up Roofing (BUR) roofing systems. For many buildings with flat or nearly flat roofs, membrane roofing is often chosen as a roofing system that will prevent leaks and keep water off the roof. These roofs are made from synthetic rubber, thermoplastic (PVC or similar material) or modified bitumen.
These materials are increasingly used as replacements for asphalt roof systems, which are an older and not as effective type of flat roofing system. While most often used on commercial buildings, it is becoming more and more common to see these roofs used for commercial applications.
Fiberglass Shingles Provide Equal Protection with Less Weight
Fiberglass shingles use a relatively new technology that was first introduced in the early 1980s. Using a woven fiberglass mat to perform as the core of the shingle, the shingle is able to be lighter in weight and have an appearance that is much thinner. The strength of the shingle is not diminished even though it needs less asphalt. They have an ASTM Class A Fire Rating.
Choose Cedar Shakes for a Long-Lasting, Energy-Efficient Roof
Recognized as a leader in our knowledge of cedar shakes and shingles, we are one of a handful of "Approved Installers" recognized by the Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau®. We also enjoy an excellent relationship with the finest cedar mills. Cedar shakes and shingles are often chosen over other shingles for their natural beauty and durability. They typically last at least 10 years longer than other common roofing materials and are also very energy efficient.
Shakes vary by region, but in North America and Canada they are generally made from Western Red Cedar. Shakes differ from shingles in that they are split, whereas shingles are sawn on every side. However, both shakes and shingles alike are usually cut from trees that have been salvaged from other logging operations.
